How to set the color of names in the synonym list
A. Synonym units and original descriptions B. non, citations that do not belong to the liste species C. Misidentifications and determinations G. New records
A. Synonym units and original descriptions The list of taxon names comprises groupings called synonym units. An original description and all names linked to it form a synonym unit. All members of a unit are imposed on rectangles of one color. The rectangle of an original description is outlined in black. The color code provides an overview of the names and, more importantly in this application, is used for points plotted on maps for distribution analysis of specimens. The color of a synonym unit can be changed using the Color Manager form
B. non, citations that do not belong to the listed species Names that are not synonyms for the species in question (non or homonyms) are imposed on black rectangles.
C. Misidentifications and determinations Names applied to specimens that were misidentified or incompletely identified are imposed on gray rectangles.
An original description that is in questionable synonymy with the current species is imposed on a 75% gray rectangle. See setting the confidence degree of a relation
Syngraph can display in the list a name and its citation that do not belong to the species that is the subject of the list but add information (e.g. This entry is not ...). Such a name is imposed on a white rectangle.
Syngraph is able to store and display unpublished opinions. Such an entry is visible at the user's discretion and is coded in green. This facility allows a user to compile a synonym list for revisionary or monographic research. Once the opinions are published, they can be color-coded to become part of synonym units. When an entry that is not an original description is entered, Syngraph searches the synonym list for the closest spelling of the species name and codes it in the color of that species. If no similar name was found, the new entry is marked with a red rectangle. The user must change the color to the appropriate color.
