Download Syngraph (syngraph_setup.exe
version beta Dec2001) file size ~ 15 Mb
Download last version of executable file (syngraph.zip version beta Jan2003) file size ~ 650 Kb
Unzip this file and copy it over the syngraph.exe file in the folder where the Syngraph was installed.
Download Help files (version 15Jan2001) file size ~ 4 Mb
Download sample database (syngraph_sample_database.exe version Dec2001) file size ~ 0.4 Mb
Download maps for distribution module (maps.exe) file size ~ 0.6 Mb

Setup Guide
1. Download Syngraph setup file (setupsyngraph.exe) and save it in a folder on your hard disk
2. Click on the file called setupsyngraph.exe and follow the setup instructions
3. Download the sample database (syngraphsampledb.exe)
4. Click on the file called syngraphsampledb.exe and save it on your hard disk
5. Open Syngraph from Windows menu "-> Start -> Programs -> Syngraph -> Syngraph"
6. Load the database file into Syngraph; see how to load a project
7. If you cannot use the online version of help files, download help files (syngraphhelp.exe) and save them in a folder on your hard disk
8. For the help files, as in step 6, indicate the path of the file index.htm
9. If you are a user of a previous version of Syngraph I suggest you to upgrade your version with this version.
This program will not delete data from your database. It will create missing tables and fields.
However, please make a back-up copy of your database.

Syngraph was written in Visual Basic 6; suggestions, ideas, collaboration proposals, and bug reports are welcome. This is the best way to improve this software.
Upgrades will consist of executable files (syngraph.exe) that can be downloaded from this page. This is a beta version.
The purpose of this program is to provide a useful taxonomic tool.
As a graduate student in systematics, I am not a professional programmer and have no formal computer training; there is always place for "better" and "faster".

This program was tested on systems with PC operating systems Win95, Win98, WinNT and, according to my knowledge does no harm.
Syngraph was also tested in Win98 under Virtual PC Mac OS9.
The files posted here for download were checked for computer viruses using the last update of Mc Affe Virus Scan v. 5.21.1000.1.
